A promising young defender in Real Madrid's ranks might get his chance to play with the senior squad soon.

Diario AS reports that 19-year-old Mario Rivas is the player in question.

Rivas, primarily a center-back, impressed the new manager José Mourinho and his team during pre-season. He was a key player in their preparation.

His performances have led to several call-ups to the first team early this season. A senior competitive debut could be coming up shortly.

Real Madrid is currently facing a severe shortage of central defenders. Ibrahima Konaté picked up an injury while on international duty with France, and Raúl Asencio recently underwent surgery.

Éder Militão is still recovering from a long-term injury. Dean Huijsen is also suspended for the team's first match after the international break against Villarreal.

According to Diario AS, it's possible that Rivas could be called upon to play in the center of Real Madrid's defense as soon as next week due to these circumstances.
